America Saves Week is April 8 – 12, 2024
What is America Saves Week?
Since 2007, America Saves Week has been an annual celebration as well as a call to action for everyday Americans to commit to saving successfully. NCUA is proud to be a participating organization that encourages individuals to improve their financial confidence by setting savings goals and creating a plan to achieve them. During America Saves Week, the NCUA encourages you to partner with your local credit union for tools and resources to help build your financial confidence. To find a credit union in your area visit NCUA’s Credit Union Locator.
Take the Pledge!
Whatever you’re saving for, taking the pledge can help you stick to your goals. Let’s do this!
2024 Theme: Saving for What Matters Most
April 8: Saving Automatically
Sometimes the smallest things have the greatest impact – like building the habit of saving, even if it’s just a little bit at a time. Saving is a habit, not a destination. Visit Saving & Investing and learn how to start saving.
April 9: Save for the Unexpected
It happens to all of us: you’re saving for something that you’re excited about, and before you know it, an unexpected event occurs, causing you to dip into your designated savings. Visit Financial Preparedness in a Disaster and learn how to prepare yourself financially to weather the unexpected.
April 10: Save for major Milestones
Saving for competing priorities can feel overwhelming, but there are ways to break these big goals down into reasonable, practical steps even if you aren’t where you want to be financially. Set your financial goals using NCUA’s Money Basics Guides and take the America Saves Pledge to make a plan to achieve better financial stability.
April 11: Paying Down Debt is Saving
Just like having a plan for saving is important, so is having a plan to pay down your debt. If your goal is to reduce debt, take the America Saves Pledge to get tips, tools, and resources to help you along.
April 12: Save at Any Age!
It’s never too early or too late to start saving – whether it is for a small purchase or a big goal, every little bit counts. Make a budget, set goals, and watch your savings grow over time using NCUA’s Money Basics Guides.
